A Comprehensive Wedding Planning Checklist - Part One

 

Its holiday season and engagement season! So you know we are super psyched! This time of year means lots of joy, proposals, and wedding planning research. It's an exciting time in deed. However, the truth of the matter is, most couples out there have never planned a wedding before and this joyful process can become overwhelming, very quickly if you don't know what to do or where to start. But don't fret, we got you! We are here to help and get started on your wedding planning journey seamlessly. Whether you are planning your wedding yourself or hiring a professional (which we highly recommend), this wedding planning checklist (part-one) should help you kick off your wedding planning and keep you on track in an easy to manage pace. We have divided the full comprehensive checklist into 4 easily manageable parts.   • Choose your an ideal wedding season and date for your fete

  • Compile your wedding guest list

  • Discuss and determine who will be contributing to the wedding budget

  • Set a wedding budget and create a budget spreadsheet

  • Determine your general wedding style (know your wedding style/vision before looking at venues)

  • Research & review wedding planner and/or coordinator options

  • Book your wedding planner and/or coordinator

  • Decide on an ideal location/area for your wedding

  • Create a preliminary color palette

  • Discuss and decide on general ceremony preferences

  • Set general schedule outline (ceremony time, reception start time)

  • Research & review ceremony and reception venue options within your ideal location/area

  • Review venue's approved vendor list to see if those vendors are within your budget

  • Book your ceremony and reception venue(s) based on your wedding style/vision

  • Research religious requirements for pre-marital counseling and other, as needed

  • Choose your bridesmaids, invite them to be in your bridal party

  • Choose your flower girl and ring bearer

  • Choose your groomsmen, invite them to be in your bridal party

  • Research and book your wedding officiant

  • Begin collecting inspirational design photos from Pinterest, Instagram, etc.

  • Collect guest list addresses

  • Research and reserve room block for out of town guests

  • Begin shopping for THE wedding dress     

  • Determine who will need wedding day styling services  

  • Start your wedding gift registry

  • Research and purchase wedding insurance

  • Review & note your stationery needs

  • Start looking at wedding invitations and order samples. If you're planning for custom, research stationery designer options

  • Begin premarital counseling, as needed

  • Confirm the wedding officiant

  • Research photographer & package options

  • Book your photographer

  • Discuss general catering, menu & service preferences, food allergies    

  • Research catering options and schedule tastings

  • Request preliminary menu proposals

  • Review bar menu supplier options (Caterer, Alcohol Service Provider, or Self Provided)

  • Book Caterer

  • Discuss ceremony & reception entertainment preferences

  • Discuss guest transportation preferences if needed, including pickup locations and schedule

  • Discuss bridal party transportation preferences as needed, including pickup locations and schedule

  • If separate transportation is required, discuss transportation for the bride to the ceremony

  • If separate transportation is required, discuss transportation for the groom to the ceremony

  • Discuss room layout, equipment needs and preferences

  • Research equipment rental options  

  • Discuss general floral needs and floral design preference

  • Research floral designer options

  • Meet with floral designers to discuss the options and your event, request preliminary floral quotes  

  • Book floral designer

  • Decide on your ideal honeymoon vacation & begin researching options

  • Research videographer & package options

  • Book your videographer
